On Saturday, November 14, members of Blessed Trinity’s chapter of Habitat for Humanity partnered with volunteers from State Farm Insurance to help in the construction of a townhome in Centennial Village in Milton.  Students spent their day working alongside Louiza Abderrahmane, the future homeowner, who moved to the United States from Morocco in 2000.  She and her husband and their two children have gained their U.S. citizenship and are anxiously awaiting the day when they can move in to their new Habitat home.  BT’s St. Vincent de Paul chapter coordinated with BT’s Culinary Arts Club and the Spiritual Life Committee to provide breakfast and lunch for the Habitat workers, and SVdP student president Thomas Langa led the 100+ volunteers in prayer before lunch.   

BT’s joint venture with State Farm came just days after being notified that the BT Habitat chapter had been awarded a State Farm matching grant for the second year in a row – one of only seven high school grants awarded for 2010 in the U.S.  Grant monies will go toward continuing construction of the Centennial Village project, which has been delayed due to a lack of funds.  Donations of any amount are gladly accepted from parents and the community.  Please direct contributions to HFH via Kathy Hoffman or Ed Morzen, faculty advisors.
