Habitat for Humanity News - Chariot Film and Women’s Build
The 5th annual Chariot Film Festival was a great success, showcasing the talents of BT students and alumni and raising nearly $1000 for Habitat’s work in North Georgia and Haiti.  

Judges and audience members agreed upon the Best Film of 2010:  “Comment André a Découvert un Grand Intrigue d’un Tresor et ce qu’il la Saivi,” a cleverly written foreign film entry by Mme. Masters’ French 4 students.  Congratulations to Steven Lago, Matt Collins, Andrew Smith and Maggie Watts for their outstanding work.  

Corey Buhay’s “A Flower Amongst the Weeds” took home the prize for Best Screenplay, while Ashton Woolen and Brian Simmons won the Technical Merit award for “I.R.A.D.”  Hannah Hester and Ryan Nolan were awarded top honors as Best Actress & Actor for their work in Andrew Mixon’s “A Night to Remember.”  Special recognition was given to Bianca Glade for her original musical score for “A Flower...”  

Festival goers were also entertained by new film creations of BT alumni Monica Hogan (‘08) and Jan-Michael Cart (‘09). Thanks to the French Club for providing the concession stand, and to all who helped make this year’s film festival the best ever.

The second annual BT Women Build is coming on March 20.  Female students, teachers and moms are invited to join us in Atlanta as we partner with Marist School to build the 2010 “Sister House.”   Contact Patti McCarthy in Campus Ministry, or Kathy Hoffman for more information.
 
The 2010 Youth United build is under way at Centennial Village in Milton.  BT students were on hand for the “First Nail” ceremony on Feb. 20, and will work several more Saturdays with students from the Atlanta International School, Mt. Pisgah Christian School and Milton High School to construct a home for the Thompson Family.
